Their honeymoon was over and it was time to go back home, go back to their original routines. Both wanted to go back not just to get back to work but to get their minds off of things. Maybe endless work will help.
They arrived at the airport when Hamad grabbed both their bags from the luggage collection and walked out. A driver, his father sent picked them up and dropped them off at their house.
It was the first time Meera was going to stay over at his house. She came here before but only to arrange her stuff. But this time she had to sleep here and make it her home.
Hamad: we will visit my parents later for dinner
Meera: okay
Meera got to her room which was right beside hamad's. She loved the interior and exterior of the house. It was all white and glass with a outdoor pool. She didn't really see herself using it since she doesn't get free time anymore. Her room matched the overall design of the house, and she did not add anything to it. She just got her things into the closet fixed her makeup table and that was it. Placing her bag onto the bed she opened it and stared at her luggage. But then she decided to grab her purse and keys. She went out the door and passed the living room and kitchen then out the door when she found Hamad with his keys as well.
He looked at her and laughed
Hamad: going to work?
Meera: I have to check up on things, you?
Hamad: same
They walked to their cars and drove away. It was a little scary how similar they were.
The next day...
Hama woke up and just like usual he looked at the clock to his surprise, he saw that it read 5:58 AM. The past week he has been waking up after 6:00 even if it was only a few minutes after, it was still something new. It was only when he was in his honeymoon but the first day he came back it all went back to how it was before. He got up went into the shower. He wonder what changed.
Meera on the other hand had the alarm ring at exactly 6:30 AM then got up to shower. She got dressed and put her makeup on since she wasn't going to the gym. This took her about 45 minutes, then she went out of her room to see the empty house. Hamad was long gone, coffee was fresh and hot since it just finished brewing. Meera grabbed her cup of coffee and out the door she went.
Looking at her life back then and now nothing changed in the morning.
Getting back to work was not difficult for any of the two. They were professional when they needed to be. The problem was what was in their heads the whole time working.
Meanwhile...
Hessa was on her way to Meera's company for a lunch break since she couldn't wait any longer to hear what Meera has to say about the honeymoon. Since she was one of the few people that knows the truth about their marriage she wanted to know what really happened. She could sense that Meera was not telling her the truth over the phone and that she was hiding something.
Hessa: our usual?
Meera: yeah
Hessa drove and Meera sat quietly
Hessa: tell me, what happened?
Meera: do you have to be like this, I told you nothing happened. It was just like a normal vacation expect with a man I barely know who is my husband
Hessa: aha
Meera: why would I lie?
Hessa: maybe because something did happen
Meera: nothing happened, but there was this one time
Hessa turned her head to Meera
Meera: but-
Hessa cut her off
Hessa: nothing happened, I know, I know. Did you want it to happen?
Meera kept quite not knowing what say. Because if she lied and said no Hessa would find out, and if she said yes it would be the truth and she didn't want to hear herself say it out loud.
Meera: nothing can happen between us
Hessa: you so want to sleep with him (she said with a smile, knowing her best friend too well)
After that awkward conversation, they arrived at their usual restaurant and got seated to their table.
Hessa: did you see him naked yet? (she said bluntly)
Meera: do we have to do this here
Hessa: you know you want to talk about it, and besides whom would you talk about it with?
She had a point
Meera: not really
Hessa looked at her with a shocked face
Meera: shirtless with a towel around his waist, multiple times actually
Hessa: you wished for the towel to fall didn't you (she said raising her eyebrows, teasing Meera)
Meera: would you stop that!
Hessa just laughed, she knew her friend too well.
Meera: what about you? any blind dates I should know about?
Hessa: I told my mom that I didn't want to go on any of them anymore
Meera: you did? what did she say? (knowing how fatima's mother can be)
Hessa: she freaked, I'm just sick of it
Hessa didn't want to tell Meera the truth, the truth that she actually liked the last guy she went on a blind date with but slept with him then gave him her number and got rejected. It was too embarrassing to talk about.
