PART 6
She walked towards the surprise but this time with a genuine
smile on her face, a smile that hadn’t appear on her face for quite some time.
Mahra: hala 5alo sh7alch?
Rashid’s mom: eb5air 7abeebti intii sh7alch?
Mahra: el7emdillah, sh7alk Rashid?
Rashid: ana eb5air el7emdillah
She went to take a seat but her mom and rashid’s mom were
already occupying one sofa and Rashid was sitting on the opposite one with
space beside him. It would be awkward if she sat alone, and so she had
to sit beside her husband. It is official, Rashid is her husband after the
melcha. She sat beside him but left space which made it even more awkward she
didn’t want to be that close.
Mahra’s mom: ha intii o arwa 7a9altow shay
Mahra: la lain a7een
Mahra’s mom: bs e5taray shay
Mahra wanted to pick but her mom is not making it any easy. Its is her wedding the dress has to be the best thing she could lay her
hands on other than the groom of course.
Rashid’s mom: ma3alaih 7abeebti ana bawadeech bacher, fi
ashyaa2 lazm araweech eyaahm, o 5alii arwa intii wiyana, mnzaan 3an ha
yahlailha
Mahra: inshalla 5alo
They sat there and talked for awhile till Rashid and his
mother left. Mahra went to her room and ignore her mothers comments or whatever
her mother had lecture prepared. She got into her PJs and went to sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day for shopping.
Arwa was already at mahra’s house waiting for mahra to
finish getting dressed then they would go with rashid’s mom.
Arwa: YALLLAH!!!
Mahra: uff lat9ar5een ethoonii et3awernii
Finally rashid’s mom arrived and they went to this small
boutique that the girls have never seen before.
Rashid’s mom: this is a small boutique with dressed flew all
the way from paris. It was suppose to open next week but I pulled some strings
for you girls to see it first and get the dresses you want.
The wedding day…
It was already here the wedding day, what mahra was waiting
for not because she wanted to get married but for the 2 days after this day
where she would running away from her family. All of this was so neutral to
her. Arwa was surprised to see her best friend so neutral to what is happening.
It was like she was a statue with no feelings.
Arwa: yallah it’s the
time for the bride to go in
Mahra: okay yalla
Arwa: sho yalla mahoor intii 3ndch 8alb? feech e7saas?
Mahra: sho tbain, you said ready and I said yallah, so
yallah lets go, by the way you dress is amazing, yellow suits you a lot
Arwa dress was just like the dress that Kate Hudson wore in
her movie how to loose a guy in 10 days. You know the silky yellow one.
Arwa's dress:
Mahra's dress:
She made her way to the koosha with this wide smile on her face
which to her surprise wasn’t that fake. She sat on it while the loud music
blasted from every speaker in the hall. Arwa was very happy for her friend but
very worried on what is going to happen to her. I mean what else would you be
if your best friend was kind of forced to get married. The whole situation was
messed up. Arwa said hello to everyone she knows and had a little chit chat
with them about the wedding of course leaving the whole forced situation out of
it.
The girls were in all shapes and sizes, the colours were bit too bright. It
was the first time mahra saw all those girls from the stage while she wore the
white dress. For the first time she was the centre of attention. She was always the
girl with the other girls watching whatever was going on. She secretly enjoyed all the attention she was
getting because no way in hell was she ever going to get the attention from her
mother. Arwa came up to mahra and realized the little frown in her face.
Arwa: hey whats wrong? We talked about this it is your wedding
Mahra: I know I just don’t know what im doing anymore
Arwa: listen to me, you will be alright ok, just hang in
there
Mahra knew that arwa was right and this wedding is a good
thing she tried telling herself. It was her ticket for running away from her
parents and getting a better education. What also troubles the Arab girls
unfortunately is that after they reach a certain age they wait for a husband
and not all get what they are waiting for. So what if Rashid is the only guy
that actually proposes to her (not that he was the one to propose).
The loud music ended and the part of where the groom was
entering started which snapped mahra out of her deep thought and responded by
sitting up straight into a beautiful posture. Arwa came up to help her fix herself
and before they knew it the men were ready to enter.
The group if men came in, Rashid in the lead with his best
friend fahad and other friends and family behind him. Mahra’s dad came up to her
and kissed her forehead which was a first, she knew deep down it wasn’t from
the inside and boy how she wished that it was. Rashid’s dad was next and he did
the same but with more passion to it. What made mahra even more upset than she
is right now is that her in laws were happier for her than her own family.
Rashid
was next which made mahra smile a little, alteast her friend was here to share
the same situation she was in. For the sake of appearance he kissed the crown
of her head and made her wear the ring and necklace. He sat down next to her
which made the perfect picture for a frame or wasn’t it?
The girls were glancing at the guys and fixing their make up
to get the attention they were desperate for. While the guys just winked and
some laughed at the pathetic scene. And now girls wonder why they were without
husbands. THIS IS WHY!!
Somewhere between the crowd:
Fahad kept his eye fixed on one person and this person only.
His eyes followed her everywhere with her silky yellow gown flowing behind her.
How could something like that just keep his head so occupied. He hasn’t seen
her ever since they were kids. It’s been 6 years. Now all he thought about was her. the moment he let eyes on her 3 hours ago and she was already
in his mind. And yet they still haven’t talked to each other. He remembered the olden days where he would just
annoy her for the fun of it. Arwa was a girl that crossed his mind 6 years ago
and never left it.
I feel sorry for Mahra
