Normal? 3

PART 3

Mahra’s mom: mahra mama, intii tbain etseereen o tedrseen bara3 9a7?

All mahra did was nod, she was terrified what the hell is going on. Why are both her sister and mother smiling at her?

Mahra: laish matetzawijain o etseereen bara3 tedrseen?

Mahra's jaw just dropped. What the hell is her mother talking about, nothing is making sense to her anymore.

Mahra’s mom: hathaak elyoom yoom 5altch meera yat, hi 5etbatch 7ag Rashid, fakrii fil maw'9oo3 o 5abreeni enzain

In rashid’s house…

Rashid: SHOOO!!!

Rashid’s mom: bismillah balak et9aare5, ana glt faker filsalfa

Rashid: umai hatha zawaaj mb ma95ara, o ana ba3adnii e9’3eer, aba a3eesh 7ayatii

Rashid’s mom: la mob e9’3aar wala shay, ana wayid bartaa7 etha et’h bara3 o fii 7ad ye3tinii feek

Rashid: sho 7ad ye3tinii fiyii ana mob yahel

Rashid’s mom: bs faker fil maw’9oo3 rashid, allah ey5aleek

And that is how she left him, with her words ringing in his head. He knew
eventually he would agree to it, it was what his mother wants. She carried him for 9 months then was in labor for 9 hours. If this is what she wants then it is what he is going to do.  As much as he doesn’t want to do it, it is his mother after all.

At arwa’s house:

Arwa: you are WHAT???

Mahra: you heard me im getting married

Arwa: no you are not

Mahra: 3ala kaifch, it kind of the deal, if I wanna to study outside I gotta marry Rashid

Arwa: but mahra, this is marriage not a joke!!!, and your acting cold about all of this!!!

Mahra: I know tht, but you know how it is, it’s my dream to study outside, and now my dream is coming true, it is just coming true with a catch thats all

Arwa: yh if your dream was to get married at 18

Mahra: I dnt knw what to do, I want to go with it, but them I don’t want to at the same time, what makes it worse is that my mom wants me to get married, and you know how she gets

Arwa: YOUR the one getting married not her

Mahra; but rashid’s mom is 5aloo meera so I kind of have to, my mom wont allow me rejecting her best friend’s son

Arwa: I haven’t thought of that

Mahra: well now I have no idea what to do, I gotta go home before I receive even worse news

Arwa: you call me tomorrow, and we will talk about this even more

Arwa knew exactly what mahra was going through, mahra didn’t talk to anyone about what she was dealing with at home. She knew that mahra needs to talk, and someone to listen to her while she let everything out.
Mahra had a decision to make the more she thought about it the more reasons she found for saying yes. First it was her dream to study outside the UAE, second her mom’s closest friend is the groom and her mom is kind of forcing her into it. She didn’t want to make anyone disappointed by her actions and decisions. What made her not agree to it is that the guy she is marrying, she doesn’t know anything about him. In fact she resented him for being so perfect. She lived most her life listening to her mom comparing her to Rashid. The fact that she was going to marry him ate her inside. If she ended up marrying him she would be his wife, serve him for the rest of her life. Is that the life she wants for herself?

Mahra laid in bed thinking like she always did. What she did the most is get lost in her thoughts and day dream for which seemed like a very long time.
She heard a knock on the door and sat up straight expecting it would be her mother or sister. But it wasn’t who she expected it to be.

Saeed: hey mahoor can I come in

Mahra: ya sure, feek shay?

Saeed: ha, hhhh la la mafeeni shay, mahoor mn 9dgch bt3arseen?

Mahra didn’t know what to say to her younger brother. She was actually pretty close to her brother. Even though he was the one that took most the attention from their mother. Anything he did had an excuse to it.

Mahra: madrii sa3dan madrii

Saeed: tara umai o uboi emwaf8een, elray raych

Mahra: adrii bs ma3arf sho asawii

Saeed: et3arfeen enhm bs yboon ma9la7tch

Mahra wished that she could understand and felt what saeed was saying, she really did. She gathered up her courage and went to her parents to finaly tell them what she decided. She wanted to get over with it and just face the facts. She wanted to do this for herself not just what people wanted her to do, especially her parents.

Mahra: mama, baba ana emwaf8a 3ala elzawaaj, batzawaj rashid
