He dropped his things and rushed to where she was sitting. Ghaya opened her palm revealing a preganacy stick with a RED positive sign on it.

mayed eyes just popped out in shock he knew what that stick was.

Mayed: thats  a pregnancy-

Ghaya: yes (she cut him knowing that he would say that)

Mayed: and the red obvious positive is a yes

Ghaya didn’t know what to say. Its not like being pregnant was part of her recent plan. Maybe later in the future, but not in this moment. A cat ate her tongue and she just lost her ability to speak. A hot tear escaped her eye. She just couldn’t absorb what was going on.

Mayed knelt down to his knees and whipped her tear away.

Mayed: its ok, this is ok, and we will be ok

He reassured her that everything will be good. And her pregnancy is not a bad thing. It was a good thing.

Mayed: kil shay mn allah n3ma

He hugged her and kissed her forhead.

The rest of the day was a little awkward. But the couple managed. Ghaya called an OBGYN to make an appointment. Mayed would join her to make sure that everything is ok.

They where both sitting in the couch watching TV when ghaya’s sweet voice broke the awkward silence.

Ghaya: mayed?

Mayed: (he looked down at her since she was lying on his tummy) na3am 7ayatii?

Ghaya: what if im really pregnant, these tests are rarely worng

Mayed: ghaya we are not going to prove it wrong, everything will be fine, we just adapt, I know for a fact if your pregnant everything will be fine, and we will love the child and we will have a wonderfull mommy

Ghaya: bs ma-

Mayed: mabaach etfakreen fil maw’9oo3 wayid, just leave everything for tomorrow ok, just rest baby

After an hour mayed was already asleep while ghaya just kept her eyes open thinking. As much as she wanted not to think about all of this she just couldnt help it.  It would feel different to know for certain that there is a tiny baby in her. What would this baby look like, her or mayed? She just didn’t know what to expect.

After all that thinking ghaya finally drifted to sleep. The next day she woke up to mayed holding her with a smile on his face. That is when she knew, what ever happens they will be ok. She got dressed and made breakfast like she always did.

Mayed woke up to the smell of an amazing breakfast. He was glad to see ghaya like that and not worrying about what would happen. It is true that this was not their plan. But if it came to having a baby they would manage just like how they managed with everything else.

Mayed: hi there beautifull

Ghaya: good morning handsome

They kissed on the lips and started their day like any other day. After their lovely breakfast it was time to go to the hospital for the check up. They held hands the entire ride there and till they walked in the building.

Ghaya’s heart rate increased with every patient was called out. She waited for her turn with no patience and an unsteady feeling. Finally she heard her name through the speakers and made her way to the door. She knocked and following her mayed. They both took a seat staring at the mid forties blond slim lady sitting right infront of them.

Doctor: why so tense? (She let out this laught that both of them didnt know what to make out of )aren’t you cute couple, young though

Ghaya: umm thank you

Mayed just sat there not knowing what to do or say.

Doctor: so you have taken the pregnancy test form the drug store correct?

Ghaya: yes and it said positive

Doctor: good, these sticks are rarely worng but they can be wrong, im not saying that you are not preagnant, to be even more sure we will be taken a blood sample

Mayed: when will the results come out

Doctor: we wont make you wait, by today after 30 minutes after taking some blood, the nurse would be taking blood now, have you eaten anything?

Ghaya: yes breakfast

Nurse: ok miss, please roll up your sleeve

The nurse inserted the needle into ghaya’s arm and collected blood into the syringe. After she was done mayed and ghaya waited 30 minutes in the waiting area. After these 30 minutes where done. They walked back to the doctor’s office.

Doctor: congratulations, its official your preganant

A smile formed on both their faces. After all it is a blessing.

Doctor: your blood level is good, everything seems to be good, we will be having monthly checkup and that is basically it

Mayed held ghaya’s hand and kissed it.

Doctor: just don’t sit a lot and not move, I want you to move its alright don’t be afraid, it being your first child, ill be giving you vitamins for you to take

Ghaya: thank you

And that the start of a family for mayed and ghaya. They got a blessing and their were learning to adapt to it.
